I know the story of Moses releasing the Israelites from Egypt under the slavery of Pharaoh. I know the story from Paul in 1st Corinthians 11:23-26 where Jesus has his last meal with his disciples in Luke 22, but it was hearing the scripture read verbally last night where it really clicked:

Jesus, knowing full well that the Jewish culture would recognize the importance of his words, stated that he was the passover lamb and that he was, “…eager to share this meal with them before he suffered.” I didn’t understand the significance of his statement until it dawned on me that every Jew would have been raised eating this special meal once a year to celebrate and remember what the Lord did for the centuries ago in Egypt; for Jesus to make this new statement, I can only hope that his disciples started to think about what was going to happen that weekend.
