0. Find an internship for this summer.

1. Prepare to travel to Italy in the upcoming fall semester.

  • apply for third party scholarships to help pay as much as possible for my exciting trip.
  • write letters of support to family members and close friends for money.
  • purchase Italian language software and study in the evenings.
  • start collecting maps of Europe and especially Italy.
  • start looking at urban planning of Italian cities.
  • invest in a voltage and ac adapter for European electrics.
  • create/make my own sketchbook(s) for Italy.
  • start playing with watercolors, pastels, charcoal, and acrylics before I get to Italy.
  • take out loans to cover balance.
  • create a blog on my website just for Italy.

2. Become LEED AP Accredited over the summer.

  • Print PDF booklets from USGBC’s website.
  • Read LEED 2.2 Reference Guides in the library. (Or access them online.)
  • Research materials and methods beyond reference guide material.
  • Enter one AIAS competition during the summer months and make my entry green.
  • Invest in exam study materials (collaborate with other students/professionals to split the price).
  • Teach the information to someone else (to show I understand the material).
  • Apply what I learn through an internship on a real world job.

3. Sign-up For IDP.

  • Read through IDP 101 Bootcamp powerpoints to teach myself about IDP.
  • Access (EPC) Emerging Professional Companion over the summer.
  • Find an IDP Mentor in a firm or in my local AIA region.
  • Start finding IDP credits - ask for help with employer to get what I need.

4. Learn About ARE 4.0 Exams.

  • Learn more about the old 3.1 exams and the new 4.0 exams.
  • Start saving for exams after getting full time job.

5. Research Graduate Schools for Obtaining A MArch Degree.

  • Find a school that has faculty and classes in a program that matches my interests.
  • Apply to be a TA or Research Assistant to help with financial aid.
  • Work part time job while in getting Master’s degree.
  • Save a percentage of my monthly income money from all jobs towards this fund.

6. Become a Licensed, Registered Architect.

  • Have MArch degree.
  • Complete IDP.
  • Finish all ARE exams.
  • Increase my own billable rate to my firm.
