Architecture+Faith
The union between architecture and faith

I heard a sermon through iTunes Podcast (Posted on May 4th, 2008) called “Living with Eeyore… How to Positively Love Negative People” from Southland Christian Church, and I thought it was a fantastic message.  I took notes, which are as follows.  It may help to listen to the message first, to put it in perspective (the sermon is 30 minutes long.)

Eeyore Message

1. Transferrance - indirectly unloading you as the target of bad emotions; you get the receiving end.  (Bad boss, unrealistic expectations, not enough sleep at night, not eating right).  Possible common causes - unresolved conflict directly associated with family background.  Metaphor - the roots of a weed.

Family of Origin uniquely shapes us as individuals - learning about their family can help you to understand individuals.
➾Parents often and frequently train their children along the same lines that their parents did; children’s hearts can easily turn from pure and white to tainted and soiled because of a handful bad individual experiences.

Church seems to be a place for a great gathering of very negative people.  We can get discouraged in this process very easily.

Eeyores only seem to focus on problems.  If there is not a problem, Eeyore will create a problem.  (Bosses, best friends, spouse.)  Eeyore often withdraw and have the ability to retreat into themselves.  Eeyores often have little ability to solve problems.  Eeyore will often have difficulty with communication, even with people that they love and love them.

Here’s the Truth - they are not the Enemy.
The Enemy wants us to think they are the enemy.

Jim Grim - the Eeyore for the Weece family.
“Aren’t we all glad that Jesus wasn’t selective of the people that he died for?”

The Church as a Family - one that would accept us, embrace us.
