“Actions and Words” - 24 March, 2009

To give up your life
for a cause you believe
is too easy for me;
To live your life
for a cause you believe
forces you to weave
actions and words,
aligning two to be one.

When I was younger,
It was enough for me
to know God in my
head, not my heart.
It was too easy
to say, “I believe,”
without any truth
to my own words.

Along my path
to grow into a man,
I saw older men whose
actions mirrored
their words.
They have a cause
to love
in actions and in truth;
it helped me
to believe
that I could follow,
two to align to one.

My cause is
to love others,
and show them that
love comes from God.
I need words
to share my cause,
but it is my actions
that show this truth.

What good is it
to have faith
without deeds?
Show me your faith
without deeds,
and I will show you
my faith by what I do.

Do not stumble
or fall on those words alone;
for it is not by
works and actions
we are redeemed.
It is by faith,
through grace,
that we are reborn
anew.

A ministry of
love and a body
of the faith
is what I will do.
My cause defined,
I will not be alone;
for I will find others
who bind task
to tongue,
aligning two to one.

Come with me
along the path
of life!
May my words point
you to unending
Love,
but let me walk
with you,
to help you
down this path,
where two become one.
